Activity: A visit to Bekonscot Model Village & Railway, the world’s oldest original model village, opening for the first time in 1929.
Location: Bekonscot Model Village, Warwick Road, Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire, HP9 2PL. I drove us (myself and Jessabelle Thunder, whose exceptional idea it was to visit a model village), and there are car parks and street parking available. You can get there by train to Beaconsfield Station, then it's a 5-minute walk.
Date: July 2022, on a Sunday, shortly after opening at 10:30. It was quite quiet then, but started to get pretty busy around midday.
Price: Tickets cost: £11.80 for adults, and £7.50 for children (aged 20-15). Further pricing here.
We ate: Champagne sorbet (me), and bubblegum ice cream (Jess) from the ice cream parlour. I think they cost about £3-4 each for those lil' tubs. There's also a well-stocked tearoom (open 10:00-17:00) serving snacks, sarnies, and some hot options (until 4pm) too.
We (ok, I) danced: To the music playing at the town fayre scene! Thanks, Jess, for catching my swag on film 😏
Never pass up an opportunity to hit a jig! 💃🕺🩰
Worth getting out of bed? Yes yes yes. We spent almost two hours there, just walking, (dancing) and marvelling. They are open 10:00-17:30 every day until 30th October
